Lexington County CDV Court

Individuals who are arrested in Lexington County by the Sheriff's Department will have their cases originally referred to the Lexington County CDV Court. This Court is located in downtown Lexington and is in the old County Courthouse.

CDV Court is presided over by a Magistrate Judge. The police will be represented by a professional prosecutor. When you are charged with your first offense for criminal domestic violence the date written on your ticket or given to you in Bond Court will be for your trial.

There are some important things you should know about the Lexington County CDV Court:

  • The Court does not conduct jury trials
  • You will not typically have a chance to CDV Discovery
  • There is a no drop policy prohibiting your case from being dismissed
  • There is no benefit to you for pleading no contest
  • You face a fine of up to $5,200 and may not receive a payment plan
  • The Court can sentence you to up to thirty days in jail - and can transport you straight from the CDV Court to the Lexington County Detention Center
