Former State Trooper Arrested for Domestic Violence

Former State Trooper Arrested for Domestic Violence

Agents from the South Carolina Law Enforcement Division arrested a former South Carolina State Trooper for Criminal Domestic Violence. The Trooper was fired earlier in the week after serving since 2006.

According to media reports the former Trooper is accused of pushing a woman in a motel to the ground. He also is reported to taken her cell phone and unplugged the motel's phone. The incident occured in Hemmingway, which is located in Williamsburg County.

This is likely going to effect the former Trooper's oustanding cases, including traffic tickets, drug arrests and DUI's. It is going to be hard for the State to continue prosecuting his cases when he has been terminated and then himself arrested.

Typically South Carolina State Troopers are not involved in CDV arrests or prosecutions. Occasionally they will try to make a domestic violence arrest (sometimes in companion with a DUI) at a roadside accident or other incident.
