I have added some additional information concerning South Carolina kidnapping law to the website. It is not uncommon for a kidnapping charge to be brought at the same time as a CDV or DVHAN. This is dangerous for defendants because kidnapping is an exceptionally serious offense carrying up to thirty years in prison and placing the defendant by default on the sex offender registry.
Additionally the alleged victim in a kidnapping may not just be the person involved in the domestic violence charge. These cases may also involve children, family of the alleged victim or their new relationship partner.
